I wonder did the 11 who so quickly betrayed you
tell you how I refused to play their game of switch and bait?
And when you marched in with the man you thought to be
your friend and told me they left you hanging in the wind, 
did you ever stop to question that what you saw was
everything they wanted you to see for all the reasons
they fought so hard to keep you fightting me?

In search of peace, I stand here, empty
and again I am filled with mystery.

I wonder did I, the one who stood by you, trusting
God to reveal all things in time, misplace my faith in things
not seen by trusting your heart to lead you back to truth?
And when I confided in the one I was certain to be
my friend, who in the end betrayed me, knowing 
my heart's vulnerability, taking the action equivalent
to snuffing out the last embers of a dying candle
whose wax had run out, did all faith die once for all?

In search of life, I stand here, empty,
and again I am filled with grace.
