When I left the room
becaise I could not hear those words
that where you go I will follow
and pretend that every damn thing
was not always and only ever
about you, you concluded
there was some tie
to a past that was only ever
and always just
to dull the pain of this life's death
with you without remembrance of me.
When you left the room
because you could not hear those words
that I could not ask for more
with all the simple things, no matter that
the one thing could not be,
knowing you could not pretend to believe
I woud make it through without you,
I concluded you were freeing you
for a future that was only ever
and always just
to sharpen your joy in death, disallowing
any sting, relishing your forgetting.
The room is still there.
The question is do we dare
to enter in again and face
mis-takes that have been.
