Showtime

I see you there, still trying to be the lion tamer,
standing in the center of your well-run three-ring circus,
thinking it still to be the greatest show on earth,
having failed to heed the notice
of its ultimate demise...

Pretending not to see the man behind the cape
and the lion that is no thing to be feared, for it is you,
far more magnificent than the roar on cue
or mind-numbing motorcycle wheelies
that never know the open road.

I see you, beautiful soul so sacred, so deserving of
all that lies outside the circus life — green field of grace,
endless sky of ever-changing hue, deep waters
that sustain this heron who flew far
to me to bring me news of you

And your most heartfelt need today: the balance
between standing alone, center of your one-man show,
and working in tandem with a partner, daring the leap
into unknown, trusting the net and life's tumble
to show you only love can free you.

I have jumped so many times, I could likely
have been the swinging monkey in your sold-out show.
But I fell into grace, letting go of the mask. I chose
instead my heart, Love, and all that breaks you
open when the show has run its course.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
