I'm blowing out the candle one day early
so tomorrow when we meet
there are no tired stories
and only love remains
and the everlasting day
to celebrate the miracle of our presence.

Here again we forget all that's been
and find a happy ending
that is really our beginning
and the circle of our shining,
eternal fire, soothing balm,
the same old song that never grows old.

Here are the birthday poems,* for auld lang syne.
Let the seas roar on but
never again shall we be parted
by them or set adrift or anchored,
moored upon some island shore. Love
comes now to light our one inextinguishable fire.

For all the years we never had I will grieve no more.
All is joyful silence and peace-filled,
quiet celebration that laughs
back through all the centuries
and knows the heart of heaven where
there are no tears and we are together, here on earth.
