Last Loop

Can you feel it coming?
You are headed round the last loop,
believing all is finished because you are ready
to leave the Land of Illusion,
all fun and games to you.

You just wanted one last look
at the propped-up persona all poofed up
that has kept you clinging to the rails, exhilirated,
going faster and faster every time.
This would be your last time through.

Rounding the last curve,
where now you see me in the clear,
maybe you think you can just pull a switcheroo
and magically transport yourself
into the true you without account.

It is God who allowed
your dabbling, drooling dalliance
when you insisted it didn't really count because,
well, there were circumstances
too vast and difficult to surmount.

Now you must see, eyes
wiped clean, how who you came to be
is far from who you've been. You must stand
exposed, surrendered full, and know
your reckless highs cast angels below.

You must look upon it now
and see the scope of damage done.
You will feel sick once you're off, dizzied,
wobbly legs, broken heart, tired mind.
Stand up anyway and find

The strength you've not found
'til now to speak truth plain in love,
turn to take real responsibility, practice
now integrity of which you speak
do not try to stop the leak.

Let all the drips and drains,
the spills and scars and stains
be seen by all; answer only to the call
of the soul you have so long denied.
Honor and release all that's died.

And then and there you live again,
set free to enter in to the unshakable
kingdom, given the keys to all you ever
desired when you set off years ago
on adventure of seeing both friend and foe

And knowing now that they are one,
unknotted now and brought into union.
At the altar of understanding, you drink, taste
the savor of this curious life and its stone soup,
the gift of things that threw you for a loop.
