It was never as much what you did
that felt like the knife in the back
or the punch in the gut. Rather, it was
your reproach of me but more than that
your approach, flat refusal of responsibility,
the HOW of what you did, even when
you claimed you had no say in how.
Take a bow, already. Didn't you know?
That show was over long ago, and I
stopped waiting for some apology
and denying myself the gift of
forgiveness for you and for me,
for holding my breath as my face
turned blue waiting for you.
So, just wondering, what if you considered
a whole new approach and approach,
trusting that, like Horton, I say
what I mean and I mean what I say
and am faithful, one-hundred percent
to anyone who passes through
the gates of my heart's home.
And, to quote Seuss again, "you
have feet in your shoes" (at least I
think you still do), and "can steer
yourself any direction you choose."
So wherever you go approach boldly
and remember your approach in Corinth...
You need only know what is essential.
Congratulations! Today is your day.
I am thinking you know the way.
