For all men who are shining souls through time and for the spirit of the masculine alive within us all. Speak, roar, cry, sing, shine, beloved masculine. This is your time to take your place at the table. Rise the morrow morn. This is your time to shine.

Speak, roar, cry, sing, shine
but fear no more the heat o' the sun
and love's light that burns within.
Here is the consummation and,
contrary to what you have been taught,
you will not be consumed should you
dance in the light of its flame.

So speak now you who have
deemed yourself a tyrant and cast off
this lesser view of you on others,
too afraid to see the shadow as your own,
to look long enough to see it fold back
into you, being of light, masquerading as matter.

Roar now, draconic beast.
Listen to the booming sound and stand
in the heat of a fiery release. See
you are not burned complete, for you
are more than the reverberating roar:
a child breathes inside your dragon heart.

So cry now, little boy blue,
for all the days that crushed you,
for all the dreams that left you
standing there alone on the shores
of this world, your heart drifting,
drifting out upon the lonely waves to sea.

Hear, beyond your oceanic grief,
a song echoed back to meet your lack.
Tune your voice to that ancient memory.
Sing out remembered song, allow now
for imperfection and LIFE!—leave room
for life to lead you on from here.

Standing here on the faded horizon
between who you have known yourself
to be and a future mystery, fear no more
the heat o' the sun. Shine, shine, shine,
and rise another day to see you are a Son
risen to new life, a comfort in this world.

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
