Or Do I Have It Backwards and Inside Out?

Here you are,
caught up in the system of belief
you yourself conceived out of wedlock
having severed half the story,
naming the child and his mother
illegitmate and separating yourself
with rules and regulation from the God
you forgot was a living one.

There you are,
swept up in wonder, blinded by his light,
loving so deeply you dare not sleep at night
and always kept the candle burning,
navigating by stars, never doubthing then
what was written within and smiling so
when you traced it like a child
back to your beating heart within.

Or do I have it backwards
and inside out?

There you are,
marching with the legion, playing both sides
at first and then sacrificing our love on the altar
of legacy and your presumed success,
snatching the words from my mouth
and the letters from my hand, leaving
me with a single rose and an issue
of memory, having lost fo a time
my rhythm and rhyme.

Here you are,
beginning to see me as if
through a glass darkly, still in part
but then, one day, face to face, breaking
through the mirrored illusion and free
to see that we are one, meant
to rewrite the story by returning
to the One whole truth, all of us
coming back to life.
