The time of
plausible deniability
has come to a close.
The chain of command

Is broken and the strawman
will be sacrificed in their scurry
to cover their tracks as they
tuck their tails and run.

But there is no place to hide
from the truth made plain
no matter the pain
that now must be faced

By every one of us once immersed
in the lives we loved and the convenience
we accepted in exchange
for believing a lie.

May the anger be acknowledged
and released without endless bargaining.

May we hold our sadness softly without lapsing
into the chasm of depression or the long dark night.

May we move in due time to accept what has
happened here and know again what it means

To live free.
