When you have no willingness to leap, sometimes
you walk right off the edge, not having realized
you were out on a ledge and blind to the one
who was whispering in your ear or to the monster
of fear who only appeared to be outside of you.
Such a rude awakening. But when the up-roar
has found its full expression, depth of grief revealed,
in due time even healed, then and only then the lion
finds his way home. The question then: when he arrives
will the den be empty? Or will love find its beginning again?
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
