What are the chances
when life takes all the chances
that one so strange should be given?
Given those absent, the angels have
had their heyday today, doubling up
on dopplegangers just to remind me
Nothing has been taken
that will not be restored and multiplied.
All that was divided or dismissed
Shall be gathered up, shared
like fishes and loaves with those
who seem invisible but are surely only
Waiting in the wings of the guardians.
And so I offer up my grief,
all the utter disbelief,
And I remember love,
innocence,
belonging,
wonder,
trust,
faith,
hope,
love,
joy,
A star,
a child,
a river,
a miracle,
a way.
