Envy eats its way in and through the eyes
straight through the hollow heart
that spawned insidious lies.

And those who lie in wait and bid their time,
remaining silent at the slander
of all innocents—they too may

Find themselves having only narrowly escaped
the sickness that strikes them as sudden
but has been born because they have

Been dying to rise and speak. Yet
time and again they shirk their shoulders
and shrink, citing thinly veiled excuse

And ten-cent words for anyone left
to hear a defense that is as deafening
as it is dangerous and loveless for all. 

Look. Listen. Then turn from all that is
propped up, padded, and positioned.
The Age of Pretense crumbles. Turn, for

Truth is now plain to see and Love rises.
In time even that which many could not imagine
will be seen for what it is and those

Pretenders and pontificators shall be
turned to stony silence, their falsity
revealed for all to see. Yet still

Spirit moves across the waters deep
and stirs the coldest, most callous of men
and women caught up in collusion.

And those upon who has been cast
a shadow of confusion are now seen clearly. 
May present insight prevail over

Those who lingered too long and
repented not as they refused to turn
from the fire and instead held open

The very gates of hell. Only time will tell
who finds the courage to say what is true
and who becomes a pillar of our error.
