When he came to tell me,
day before she divided my life in two
into the before and foreverafter,
that he, there, held "some measure of importance"
and said, though sad, he would now remove
all obstacles to truth, I figured
he meant only obvious distant
dabbling now decades in making.
So while I laughed at his
grand pronouncement of pull he had, still
I felt comforted and chuckled at timing
of chiming in. He must have read my poem
I thought. I shrugged off the grandiose
and I thanked him for his support.
He stared at me with his big brown eyes
as he had on this side of the veil.
Last night six stood speaking
not but standing together in hazy dream
and each one lifted up a lost piece of me
then placed it in my heart. And as they
turned to leave, each one showed me in turn
lesson learned. These too they left with me.
I called after them but they vanished
into a translucent rainbow bright.
I have never felt so supported,
and I have never felt so alone.
