For thirty years plus three I agreed
to blindness for purpose beyond me.
I was blind but now I see that I
could see. It was just meant to be held
In trust in time in me. It is now
free. I have loosed it on the wind but
without need for an explanation
or presentation, list of wrongs
That could keep you far away for life.
Through it all I wrote poetry.
You might choose to read them too, should you
wish to learn from my experience
Of you. I have loved you in many
lifetimes, in each my heart broken save
this one, when I never did like you.
I will not recite your litany
Of lies. Nor will I name all the ways
you disguise yourself. Once we shared the
knowing—though I saw not in that life
your heart knew it from the other side—
Of powers and principalities.
We wrote together then though what was
true you tainted when you took it, turned
it, used it for your gain. My loss here
Is only gain for me and I hope
also for others. You have proved that
point on which we once agreed in what
I at least recall. Call it nonsense
If you will but I will call it real.
I honor you in your choice, belief,
where clearly there is divide for you.
I see all I've held, have no regrets
In choosing to walk in winding way,
to love in spite of every reason
not to—to do what I see we came
to do. But door was only open
For designated time. And today
marks the end of my transmutation
of any shadow left lingering.
My observation: life rises, all is free.
