She stood like a tower,
silent but always my strength.
However far away
we lived she was my comfort.
Bittersweet 16, when
the angels took her early
Left me bereft, broken
beneath such a weight alone
To bear wildness of storm
that rages like a cleansing
rain from the other worlds.
She speaks to me in starlight,
Same twinkle in her eye
and tells me the skies will part,
Some miracle comes,
opening long awaited.
She reminds me what I
loved most in her: elegant
Wisdom within, how once
I observed in silence how
Truth speaks when needed and
holds herself with dignity,
How it didn't matter
if everyone in the room
Dismissed you or told you
that you were seeing it wrong,
How the birds come early
morning with messages new.
