gather stand protest
nyc anti-war stance
a lone voice
only a boy with a choice
barely 17 years old in
a school meant for tomorrows best
on scholarship
their threat
just he walked away
were they all afraid to speak
or
had they nothing to say
lost
never his voice
in peace
a wave across a concrete stage
between peace signs and hate
marching for the children
for the 50,000 dead
their silence called out
became his rage against the hate
his screams born
from the death of bobby & King
in song the bells rang
and so a boy learned their song
gather stand protest
yet when the boy sang
the words he found
were his own
the song of a poet born
