Open people's eyes to the povery that exists in the world, to try to do something to help bring a change.

Everyday she walks much further
One child down a dusty road
To find the stream to quench her thirst
From a river that no longer flows

The sun beats down upon her
One child with no tears in her eyes
There is no one left in her village
No reason left to cry

She watched as families moved on
Displaced by soldier and gun
Knowing a return was impossible
To scared to try and run

A land that was her birthright
Scarred and torn by a war
But to one child with lifeless eyes
She'll never know what for

She thinks the world's forgotten
Believes she doesn't exist
Within this caged corruption
How did it come to this

She longs for cool, clean water
Food to ease her pain
Medicine to cure her ills
Heart cleansed by flooding rain

She and many others
Need to know we see
Our voices to seek out governments
Make poverty history

We need to make them listen
Make them right their wrongs
Give one child a future
In one world where she can belong

One voice can make a noise
Many create a roar
Stand up and tell the world
No poverty
