A fun response to my first visit to New York in 2006. I fell in love with her and tried to capture her rhythm.
She’s alive
So at you she shouts
She pulsates and beats
This dancing, simmering cauldron
Vibrant with the spices
Of many nations
Many moods
Many sound, many sights
Of her people
The blacks, the whites
The Hispanic, the Jews
And every other Gentiles
She gets in your soul
Her melodious strains
Coursing through your veins
Gives you a high
Awakening your senses
Making you come alive
And on her streets
You want to dance
To passionately move your
Hips, your heart and soul... even your feet
To her rhythm… to her beat
This great city
New York! New York !
Gets under your skin
You can’t help but respond with passion
To love or to hate
Not to be indifferent to her pull
But be captivated
To her lights
To her sounds
To her sights
To her people
To New York .
