How Can I …?

By Kathy Armijo

My sons, how can I … teach you right from wrong?

Can I … teach you to sing a silly song?

What do I want to teach you?

Can I … guide you on the right path?

So much to do.

Am I up for the challenge?

I remember the look on your faces,

Such excitement and expectation.

The lessons we shared:

            Learning the ABC’s.

And counting – one, two, three.

You boys were incredibly smart.

You went to school,

            Knowing you were too cool.

You made friends easily.

Our front yard was sometimes like a zoo.

I so enjoyed this view.

As your Mom and teacher, I thought I did well.

But, all of you taught me more than I could foretell.

All of you taught me patience and love.

Acceptance of God’s will was the greatest gift each of you gave.

To this life, none of you were slaves.

You never questioned your destiny.

You rejoiced in what you had, had.

You rejoiced in what was to come.

Never did any of you look back with regret.

Today, you honor God in a very special way.

From you heavenly perch –

You watch over me.

You give me comfort.

You remind me that one day we’ll be reunited.

How can I … ask for more?

Even though it is late and I've got almost 2000 miles under my belt this week, I had to sneek a peek. Beautiful. So touching. I'll read the rest in the morning. Got to sleep.

Great love shared from a heart that has known true love and alas has seen it depart but not the loving memories of spirits that now look after you from heaven. Three little angels for sure will always comfort you in your darkest days and brighten you with the love they have for you.

Kathy such beautiful words for your sons as you know they are reading the love you have written from heavens gate. Angels watching over you, I hope you realize how loved you are. You are a special person and I am so glad that Raelynn sent you my way, now I know I was blessed. Thank you.

Kathy I took great comfort in this write and the example you set with your love of your boys and the love they have for you. Death for a parent is never easy but when we can look back with fond memories and know that love grew in everyones hearts then it make loss a little easier to deal with. Very beautiful write Kathy..cyber hug from strong arms headed your way.
