My 1st Birthday in Heaven
By Kathy Armijo


My first birthday in heaven
Is right around the corner.
You should see what joyous
Festivities are being planned.


But, I can’t stop remembering my first birthday with you.
I knew you really cared.
The most precious gift of all –
Was just YOU!


To think of you fills my heart with
Warm beautiful memories.
The life we shared, the kids we had,
Just to name a few.


The years went by too quickly.
So many wonderful birthdays
And all because of you
And our wonderful sons.


I know you will be sad
When you think of what we once had
And knowing we can’t
Share my birthday.


On my birthday, know
I’m right inside your heart
Hearing you whisper
“Happy Birthday, Sweetheart.”


So, “Darling, please don’t weep.”
Cause the band of angels
Will gently lull you to sleep
As you feel the warmth of my kiss upon your cheek.

Kathy,

You are one of God's earth angels. My 1st Birthday in Heaven really touched my heart. I do believe that the absence of the ones we love can feel our love in heaven. It was comforting and I can relate to it. Thank your reviews on my poems also.

What a wonderful expression of emotions and thoughts. I never considered birthdays in Heaven, but I now think of my parents and the birthdays that I thought they missed. They didn't!

Wouldn't it be something if we have Birthdays as such, in heaven! A Intriguing write, Kathy~ bittersweet, no less
My mom passed away in 2001, I wish I could have heard her more. . .and after. . .
She is very loved and very missed!

Speaking from someone who lost her father in May of 2006 and my sister in June of 2001, I can understand the feelings of sadness and loss...and the joys of the memories...and the knowing that they are just beyond the veil. ;) Silver

You hide the sadness well because you know he is in a higher realm. It is very hard to accept the passing of one so dear. You do a beautiful job of creating silent but beautiful pain. Excellent!!
