The Night I said, “Goodbye.”
By Kathy Armijo – your Mom

The night I said, “goodbye.”
All those years that you and I believed
you’d be the one to live
til you were at least a hundred.

It was you who should bury me.
but, this was not to be.
Like your brothers before you,
God’s called and guided you through.

You lived your life fully and wonderfully.
and full of glee.
It mattered not what others thought.
You loved this life into which you were brought.

What more can a Mom say.
Each day that you were ill
I prayed
for God to heal you.

I wanted Him to heal you here,
and keep you close to me.
But, I also prayed for what was best.
It was our faith He chose to test.

As you lay struggling to breathe your last breaths,
my words to you, I hope, helped ease your fears
as I spoke to you through streaming tears.
“It’s ok to go.

Your Dad and brothers are waiting for you.
And your Uncle Andrew, too.
I’ll miss you.
I love you.”

In my love for you and Him,
I let you go.
There to reside in eternal bliss,
until upon my cheek, I can once again feel your loving kiss.

You’d been dead a few months,
when in my dream I heard,
“Mom!  Mom!  I made it!”
The joy in my heart leapt.

I miss you terribly,
but in my memories you
and your brothers still live on,
even though the three of you are gone.
Until me meet again,
I ask each of you to
help me cope with my loss.

I love you DJ, Anthony Michael and William.

I miss you boys.

"Thanks" for watching over me

as only God's angels can.

I too have dreams like this. They call a child an orphan when he loses his parents. But they should have a special name for us mothers who are left behind in their wake. I share your pain. Charlie

Kathy,
I can´t begin to imagine your pain, or express my deep admiration for your dignity and courage.
I rage at god itself for the injustice. I refuse to make excuses for god.

Well done, Kathy! When the young ones are called away, we always wonder, "Why? It wasn't their time." Perhaps, after performing some needed task, they needed to go home.

“Mom! Mom! I made it!”

Such a simple - perfectly positioned - line!

This is really heavy. Sad yet happy at the same time. I like how you now handle it rationally. We learn we are not always IN CHARGE of our lives even if some people won't admit it. Cheers and luck

God bless you and keep you. We are not meant to bury our children. Just the oposite. My heart goes out to all those who have been in this situation. I know it would kill me.

Kathy your words are beautiful and they come straight from your heart, even though it is hard, you have been blessed in so many ways with your faith alone. I am sure each time you brush at your cheek it is indeed a kiss you are receiving from one of the Angels. Thank you for sharing Kathy.

Oh Kathy as I sit here holding on to the cross around my neck you have reduced me to tears at the thought of your sons in God's house. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you and I know God's hands are wrapped around you giving you strength. The kind of strength only a mother could understand. You are a very strong woman to have endured so much pain and still you smile. A very heartwarming, heartfelt write....

Be safe,
Karen

Surely there is nothing more painful on Gods Earth than this.

Not seeing my son for 7 yr. I can kinda relate. Yet a night can nee pass without the pain, memories do not fade, they are our dreams, hopes and aspirations. I won't spout platitudes, you'll have had them all. I pray you find peace. The pain must seem insane at times, uncontrollable tears that kinda heal, but the birth pangs then this, I cannot feel or think of anything worse for one to suffer....Keep writing it helps, but a cure would be an insult. memories are a treasure to keep, tears are nothing to ever be ashamed of, off course not.

May you find courage and wisdom to help others who are hurting..

My thoughts have not collected yet, sorry for that....

I dropped you and yours a tear today to say I understand and all of this is God's hands. Beautiful remorse, you are inspirational to those of us who also have to move past the "untimely" death of loved ones. But, is it really untimely? Certainly to us it feels so.
