Brotherly Bantering
By Kathy Armijo
Brothers fishing from the shore
Reminiscing of days of yore.
Each with a tale of who did what to whom,
And who was the bigger buffoon.
Their laughter fills the sky.
Remember when we were five and six,
We made a spear.
Which one of us hit brother’s ear?
I was the faster runner.
But, I had the slickest and fastest car.
Yeah, but I got the girls.
So how’s your ’39 Chevy coming along?
Still in progress, and progress is slow.
Should have been at the last car show.
Tom’s car took first in classic cars
Jerald’s took honorable mention in hot rods.
Leonard’s truck would have walked away
With grand prize had he been there.
Suddenly, the topic changes to
Rounding up the cows on Dad’s ranch.
Then, shooting coke cans -
You with your rifle and scope,
To me you were no challenge –
I beat you with my 22 pistol from a hundred yards.
The reminiscing,
The joking.
Are those thunderclouds?
We’d better beat a hasty retreat
To the campsite.
The playful bantering
Goes on into the night.
The stories, more outrageous.
Those were the good ‘ole days.
Relieving the past,
As only brothers can do,
Cause it went by, way too fast.
God Bless

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
The older Karen and I get, the more we do that...and the more the stories get embellished! :)
