My Rose Garden

The illness to which I am referring is called Adrenoleukodystrophy. [I wrote this in response to someone's insensitive remark about my dystrophy.]

-------------------------------------

MY ROSE GARDEN!
By Kathy Armijo

So I’m sick.
Some people think this illness is in my mind.
Abracadabra, it’s gone.  It was just a trick.
How can they be so callous?
Who would concoct such a horrific diagnosis?
Not me!
Sadly, my illness is physical and there is no cure to be found.

This illness has already taken my three sons, one brother and one nephew.
Additional family members who are affected are my sister and great-nephew.
As genetic disorders go, this one has been quite far-reaching in our family.
When did it begin?
It began when it began.
I can’t change what is.
Someday, I believe a cure will be found.

Until that day, I will continue to live each day to its fullest.
I will remember the good things that take place in spite of the heartbreak.
Heartbreak is heartbreak, regardless of the event.
The sadness goes to core of my heart.
Thankfully, memories and faith in God give me comfort.

The future is unknown.
It was always unknown.
My future has always been remarkable.
My life has always been an incredible rose garden.
The thorns remind me that beauty is not without some pain.

My life’s journey is God sent and blest.
Who could ask for more?

Not me!

My life’s journey is God sent and blest.
Who could ask for more
You are a beautiful soul inside and out and your faith
And courage shines through this page God has
Given you a thorn that
You and him together will overcome
Some day soon there will discover a cure!
It's really sad how some people make insensitive remark without
Truly understanding or reading about the illness!
I'm placing you an my prayers!!
Take Care....Love Peace and hugssss...Morning Star

And the "thorns" remind us that beauty in the material world is perishable but the what you gain in character is lasting in the spiritual where the roses have no thorns... Genetic diseases certainly are not mentally based... but some people expect anyone with a problem to be in a wheelchair--hope you are on your feet for quite some time. I can understand as I am on disability because of a family genetic disorder but one far less dramatic than yours... and the endpoint is unknown. But that info. thankfully God keeps to Himself. Best of Life to you.

You are so beautiful, inside and out. So much courage shines through. Nevermind what insensitive people say or do. You are going to fight this thing to the ground. Win in spirit, if nothing else.
As for the cloddish remarks, some no doubt come from people who
hate the idea of your being sick so much, they deny-deny-deny. May be giving them too much credit, but it is very hard to accept that
you are ill. Me, I am going to pray for a cure. Soon!! Gentle
hugs and sweet bouquets, <3 'Pea' <3

awwww, thisd was on the BBC, they said it's a blokes disease. I guess they're wrong. How sad this info is. I am so sorry for all the pain life has put you through, we all go through the mill, but this is over and above. My ex has the invisible disease fibromyalgia, but i left her, not because of her illness, but because i was going to NY as often as poss, then found out she was cheating on me, just seeing me as a free bank...

Beauty. I pray for your health, i'm kinda taken aback by this news.

But you have roses wrong. Women are as beautiful as roses, but they have many pricks trying to get to them. You are a rose without thorns..... xx

Many criticize and ridicule what they do not understand out of sheer ignorance! No illness should be spoken of with disrespect and hurtful remarks, but should show a compassion and a desire to see them healthy and well as we do ourselves! Your display of courage and positive thoughts and beliefs are very encouraging for those whom suffer from this same illness as well as others. We should enjoy each day to the fullest and treat each as if it could be our last, none of us know what day we might be called home! A profound write from the heart of a caring lady! Well done my friend!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

The curious thing, dear Kathy, is that, while we all seek recognition of our individual gardens, most of us are not prepared to acknowledge... the importance of all the other gardens around us. And... this blindness prevents us, much too often, from appreciating how much we all have in common, after all - for all gardens are not composed of beautiful flowers only... and yet it is the presence of thorns and weeds that enable us to fully value them. Your gratefulness for your own garden, and for the wholeness of its beauty made both of the flowers and the thorns, shows a sensitive spirit ("soil") and a compassionate heart (ability to absorb all the essential "nutrients") capable, indeed, of the most amazing miracles (a "remarkable future" of scented Springs... after each and every Winter). I'm sure it will always be so... because you are a Constant Gardener, guided by Faith. Bless you!

Dear Kathy--I'm so close to you sometimes I forget, or maybe just want to forget. Or maybe it doesn't matter. Whatever. You're an incredible person and I am lucky to have you in my life. Good choice for today. Sometimes we have to stand our own ground.

"The thorns remind me that beauty is not without some pain."
By this thinking, I must be really beautiful because I am your biggest pain in the butt.

Love you--RaeLynn

The ones who believe that you aren't ill can go take a loooonnnggg walk on a very short pier. May you have billions of roses and 100 thorns, not many thorns.

Too many insensitive people in this world Kathy. Almost 8 years ago God gave me a miracle through a great Neurologist and great Brain Surgeon in Boston. Why? I don't know. My prayers are with you Kathy. I agree with Christine; we're all fortunate to know you. May your rose garden blossom all year long for many, many years to come.
Hugs for you...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...God bless.

I am saddened to hear of this illness Kathy, and also saddened to hear of those scallawags among us that have no finesse in their remarks. No one escapes suffering and tribulation in this life. Keeping our eyes and hearts firmly focused on the author and finisher of our faith is of the utmost importance. Blessings to you ...
