A Mighty Oak Tree

© By Kathy Armijo

I knew a man

Tall and s t r o n g

Protector of his children and woman

Anchored in the roots of family

Sustained by his faith

But not in the least bit holy, holy

Hands bigger than all outdoors

Rough from hard work

Still, gentle comfort was felt through the sores

Hazel eyes, twinkling

Smile that lit a room

You couldn’t help smiling

Always ready to lend a hand

No task was impossible

A ready and willing deckhand

Good dancer, but no Fred Astaire

Rancher and all around good guy

Watching the rodeo, time we did share

His physical strength did eventually diminish

His character … always a character

In his faith, he was strong to the finish

My Dad

He was like a mighty oak tree

His dying, was our loss

His love remains in our hearts

Never far from out thoughts

For us, he really didn’t depart

There is certainly life in our remembrances, Kathy. The stronger the love, stronger the remenbrances, longer the life. A heartfelt poem of his life and love.

Thanks for sharing with us.
