Please do not talk down at me, I am up here.

My views are from different a lens then yours.
My beliefs are my own, not what you told me.
My efforts are from my heart

which is full, not half empty.

My words, are my mine own.
My deeds are from the soul,
not from a prosperous angle.
My love is for all that is good,
it does not pick and choose.

My worth is golden, even when wounded
My opinions are my own, not yours.
My respect will shine, even without yours.

My spirit has been wounded not layed to rest.
I will still be whole, without your kindness.
My truth is not ithe same as yours.

Your words, actions and opinions,
will no longer bring me down.
I will still love you even when your ways
are detrimental to my peace.
However, I will no longer accept
your crude and hateful ways.

I will not be cruel.
if you can't be decent
I will not accompany you.

My Dear Friend, you are not
better than the rest.
So when we meet, if ever again.
Feign kindness and respect if you must.

I do not need your pretense of pride.
Do not treat me as a child.
I will not go to my room,
but I will walk out the door.

I love you, I just love myself more.

AWESOME and so NEEDED by your spirit and soul Carin'!
I felt in the middle of this poem * which to me is it follows in unison to your feelings ~
I felt in the middle of someone CLOSE to you, and someone who tries to manipulate YOU to their way of Thinking, as Loved ones do from time to time! They try to make you agree with them, they feel they are right, (The KNOW IT ALLS) I call em' - but, I (like you) have my own choices for my OWN growth, that is important! I won't agree if I don't agree!
Thank you for keeping me rambling... on....
I feel THIS!
To the POINT!
WRITE ON!

This is the way I feel about my mother. I will see her on Christmas Day this year after a year of not speaking. In just a few words, abusive/cruel parents have a way of making one feel like a toddler again. I admire the voice of strength in this poem. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

EXCELLENT especially the closing line!!
I too fell far from my family tree
& then rolled even further away..I like how you expressed your diversity & your emotional strength as an individual of completeness & of sound judgments!!
Wonderful!!
