Too many Vietnam veterans are ignored and mistreated. They bravely did what their country asked of them. They returned to America and were treated like the enemy.

He went into battle, his body mere chattel.
Owned by Uncle Sam, sent to Vietnam.
Soldiers were drafted, later shafted.
They had no voice, war wasn't their choice.
Our soldier returned to us, his brain amuss.
Never the same, humans to blame.
For doing their jobs, faced angry mobs.
Endured their stares, seems no one cares.
People spit, some hit.
They didn't understand, this courageous young man.
Nothing to gain, he ended his pain.
Taking his life, leaving more strife.
He was loving and kind, but the world was blind.
This brave young man, he fought in Vietnam.
God bless our Veterans; especially our Vietnam Vets. They were treated like...like...chit. Spit on, called 'Baby Killers,' and now I fear the Iraqi Vets are being treated the same: hell, ALL Veterans (especially when they have to deal with THE SYSTEM [VA]). Trust me, I know...why are Veterans on the streets? Why are Veterans going hungry? Why are Veterans denied proper, GOOD medical care? Shame, shame, shame!!!! A heartbreaking write you pen; thank you for standing up for those who served.
So sad for you Karla, I hear you heart, some true heros suffer in vain! Your government is not the only one committing this crime, I remember German soldiers after the second war sitting on little dollies begging, a tin pot between ther legless and armless bodies begging for coins, the new government than saying it was'nt us who send you.
