something about the mesmerizing surf
the tireless continuation
as each wave keeps coming to shore
 

leisurely today in its movement
pausing, then rising, then rolling
watching it lapping the sand
 

the sound of gulls moves my focus
and i notice two sandpipers
scurry along the now wet sand
 

instantly they multiplied into six
and then twelve sandpipers
becoming a flock moving down the beach
 

I thought of you then
and experienced a glimpse
of your hair blowing in the wind
 

I whispered sandpiper into your ear
before the moment disappeared
and I returned to this beach
 

yes, leisurely describes this time
and how perfectly beautiful it is
gracefully allowing, gently unfolding
