i'm a grain of sand along
an ocean of life wondering
how i make a difference

and yet lifted by the
smallest of breeze
my grain of sand
lands on the water
creating a ripple that
travels for miles

and maybe you are sailing
at that very moment
the ripple floats by
and rocks your boat

depending upon your
state of mind you will
gently sway or be capsized

and sometimes i know
and often i don't
my very existence
has changed what you are

and as you are affected
by the moving water
it returns back to me
now carrying your power

but i am quick
and shapeshift fast
i am a mermaid
and i breathe underwater

with swish of tail
i glide the water
finding heaven
in oceans calmer

and there is a fisherman
patiently waiting yet
dangling a line and a lure

so i shift again
into a dove
with rush of wings
i take to air

and as each wing
strokes the air
it creates the breeze
that blows your hair
