i wear white today in honor of the moon
not the silky purity of a virgin bride
but a luminescent silver,
a winter light and edges of an
elder’s sight
a modest illumination upon the dark of night
a glimmer of faith upon the spark of light
to rhyme and play
as a child, I might
consider the power the words consume
to hear the mystery and dreamy presence
of lovely sounds and intoxicating fragrance
allowing senses to imagine appearance
within the prism of my middle eye
now wrapping my shoulders, arms and throat
with the gentle comfort of a winter warming
tapestry white
to honor the color of the moon
