places of power
we go to within
for who knows us better
than our own spirit guides

mine come to me
with skin of red
tribal knowledge
from ancient places

the knowledge is wise
but often cryptic
often confusing
to this white modern woman

a leathered face
with hair all white
nirvana smile
and his presence is bright

symbols they give me
of tools to use
and rarely instructions
on how they are used

my symbol today
was a leather hide shawl
fringed with feathers
cascading like.. a waterfall

they always seem to know
what i need to know
then send me home
to grow on my own

*doing some research-the shawl is used in healing dances, also a symbol to acknowledge beauty, in each unique expression whether it is human, plant, stone or enemy, accepting the shawl means one is willing to live the goodness to be shared by many. wearing the shawl is coming home to earth mother, and being loving to others seeking the way home
