digging my fingers into an orange
aware of the aroma filling the room

i abandon the idea of standing at the sink
and sit at the dining room table

the fruit so deserves to be savored

ripping each peel the juice begins seeping
not caring it runs down my wrist
i lean over and lick it off

so sweet, so wet

separating a slice, i touch it on my lips
feeling its membrane texture

open my mouth, it lays on my tongue
dripping its nectar to my throat

slowly bitten to reveal its flavor
it releases with plenty

savored and swirled inside my mouth
the fruit kisses me from within

the juice extracted the pulp remains
to be ground down by my teeth and

swallowed
