mortality

i feel it coming, the cloud of dark
the ache in your bones
the dull headache
it comes to feed to save itself
and though I've learned to
fend it off, its clever you know
and it will come through everything else

Timothy's dieing
Jeff's gone to war
Teresa crying and
Jen crashed the car
Mitch is drinking
Ron is complaining
Bill is chilling and
Robin is lost in worry
Mike's in court
Linda's upset
John has withdrawn and
Popi is drowning in sorrow

the sword on my back begins to hum
and the telephone begins to ring
one at a time they come to me
because they know i'll help

there was a time I'd feed that cloud
but I am learning one step at a time
the battle is won with love

i give them hugs one by one
and take the time to listen
my answer to them is all the same
it will all work out

with puzzled looks they question how
could it really be that simple
so I ask them if they've questioned why
they are found in this dilemma

did they learn a lesson here and
where is it going to lead them
are they exhausted from the suffering
and are they ready to move on

to embrace the enemy they have created
and consume it with a heart of love
for wallowing in the darkness
only serves to further expand it

they know that I will help them see
and I will help them fix it and
what is not readily repaired
they know I'm working on it

a wave of light builds in strength
and banishes out the dark
a survival key we all have
are joyful smiles each day

i think it's better to feed the light
because i'd rather feel good today
humbled and graced by wonder things

and yes we are building a paradise
and i would love your help

"mortality" is a motion in the rebirth of daily life of a family that says "father and mother I love you"; it is the depicting of care for loving and love to live in togetherness, sharing accomplishments, and all the emotions one can show or tell to one another; it is a sample of what love can create when love is its own fate managed by a priest of love in the basilica of understanding creating humanity by teaching the little ones how to hold the dagger of love to cut the web of scorn and indifference; and it is pictured as poetry dictates under the voice of Euterpe singing the song of motherhood, sisterhood and brotherhood, while Erato deep the quill of the author in a jar of ichor to be mixed with the ink of beauty, scented with the aroma of the heart of a true Poet that poetizes wonders.

I Salute You, Master Poet Debby Weinberger.
