How did I get here?
When will it all cease?
I'm slowly drowning in my own deluge of tears
While my faith, the one thing that has always been my refuge
Is running away from me like an overflowing brook
I'm a new face in the parade of disappointment
Mainly created by immaturity, stupidity and negligence.
My innocence and ambitions dragged me to the coast of destruction
Where the glory of my name was manifested and etched in cement
But my inner self began a slow descent into silence
My mistakes carved themselves into my memory
Forcing me to face my last best chance to save my destiny.
I refuse to let my past define my life
I'm more than that!
My poor decisions work their way to my soul
Destroying my faith and my ability to hope,
Stealing joy in a slow dance of uncertainty.
I thought I had all figured out,
But in reality, all the glory was built
On fine grains of imagination and confusion
With a blur of unanswered questions
Flooding my being with cold drops of rain.
I may be broken and damaged inside
But I'm still God's child
And my finest days will surface after the storm.
