Bus Trip

My second poem about buses, this a bit more serious.

The bus headed swiftly down the road
carrying a happy, boistrous load
when forced to a sudden stop
by some officious looking cop
his car's lights flashing blue and red
walked up and to the driver said
'There are checks that must be done
sorry to delay your passengers fun.
I do so understand your plight
but I must ensure the bus is alright'
then a voice came from the rear
obviously slurred by too much beer
'You must have better things to do with your time
why not go and solve some real crime'
The cop just said they'd found mistakes
the coach had some defective brakes
and further movement was not allowed
No words to quell a hostile crowd
Three hours they were to hang around
before a new bus could be found
with feelings becoming even worse
lucky not to progress beyond a curse
An hour later the mood more irate
'We're people, not just some freight'
seemed to be most peoples views
suddenly, heard upon the local news
'There has been a major crash
through a wall a coach did smash'
our ace reporter speaking live
reckons very few would survive
'How? Why? What actually entailed?'
'Seems the bus's brakes had failed'

Great one David, a fortuitous holdup, once feeling annoyed at running out of petrol, I found I had escaped a pile up just minutes later, had I not been forcibly stopped I might have been a part of it.

David, reminds me of the time we were planning a family vacation and had made airline reservations, and at the last minute decided to drive. The plane crashed. I'll never forget the silence of the whines of the children when that was announced over the radio in the car. Not one more word was said for about the next fifty miles. But there were many many tears being shed. ~SH~

GREAT WRITE DAVE

YES, SAFTY STOP ME ANYTIME,
BEFORE SOME CORPORATE BOSS
COMMITS A CRIME
JUST TO SAVE HIMSELF
A FEW MISERABLE DIMES,
BY DISREGADING SAFTY CHECKS
DUE AT TIMES

I swear, I missed my bus...lol! I liked the "go solve some real crime" bit. That has to be international...lol! Reminds me of a flight that was delayed in London FOREVER because they had to replace a part. EVERYONE was complaining....but, had we been on that plane, no one would have complained.

Thanks,
Emilie
