The bullet flew across the road
Payment for a debt not owed
Just some stupid honour code
For the why you need a clue
The victim was adorned in blue
The killer wore a different hue
There was not any real need
To carry out this callous deed
Other than an ego feed
Blues needed to settle the score
They'd kill one red or more
Starting a vicious local war
Mothers wept and fathers cried
Wondering why their children died
Not understanding teenage pride
The teenage years and testosterone often bring out irrational violence as young men try to learn how to be men. In the case of your poem, that scenario is being played out more and more across the great country of the United States. Boys will be boys. Rash action may lead to a life of regret or crime.
Your poem hits us hard emotionally, but harder for those involved.
