EARTHEN ROSE by: Victoria L. McColley I wandered about the foresting pathways, where souls merge inside ecliptic etherean veils. Did you happen to notice I was kneeling by the river’s edge? I was gathering collective stones for the Lepidoptera sanctuary. I had seen you standing over uncertainty, with your choices; Those hollow wolves that carried you home naked with intention. Wandering quietly beneath the fortress of all temptation, binding your heart to thorn bushes, and rotted oak roots; I wondered about that blinding death grip in your palm... Did the dried yucca leaves cut deeper than her words? Or was it that she lucently floated above all your dreams; Never escaping your need to touch the purifying bounty? Unable to catch site of her, through the sacred meadows, Where she laid upon the wild grasses, and the kings of daffodils; Whispering her privacy, and secrets to the fragrance of the wind; Perhaps you did not notice the melodic shining light cascading itself, as she opened the vaults of her heart and soul to the Lord that day... I was watching the breadth of the moon embrace her. The limbs of the weeping willows began dancing with new meaning, as her echoic plea was esoterically heard, and answered by the sacred one. Redeeming her as an earhten rose, inside the sanctuary of the foresting pathways; ...she whispers into the mountain air... restored...rebirthed...reborn... © Poetry Devotionals 2012

Only a miracle could cause a beautiful rose like that to grow from the parched earth. It does make an artistic statement though.
