Iridaceous Nectar
We are ascendant pollinators
Burrowing ourself deep inside
Perfuming sepals and petals
Attracted to the showy flower
Dance for me with the moon shadows
A parallel venation
Our ovaries mature
Pollen receptive, we are
Revealing our hidden secrets
From the pine sky and imbricate cone buds
While the Sphinx moth hovers
In delight to the sticky pollen
The pollen powder is carried away
as the black hummingbird arrives
Sampling sweet Iridaceous nectar
Bulbous reactions arise
Splitting the fruit open further
Revealing the beautiful pistil
This perianth of new discovery
The corolla of velvety visions
Collecting perfuming bouquets of you
See my anther expose upon your succulent midnight wind…
