Friendship is like the surface sparkles
Seen across a rippled pond
On a breezy sunny day.

It’s there all the time
But only seen at certain times.

Oft times it pops out through a smile.
Other times through a spoken word.

Perhaps you feel it in a handshake.
Or in a quick hug.

We all crave it. We seek it.
We trust it. We cherish it.

We remember it.
Whenever we can, we return it.

With a smile, an honest compliment,
A handshake or a hug.

But sometimes it comes to us
So generously and overwhelmingly
Through acts or opportunities

That we are at a loss
On how to return it,

Except to say a heartfelt
“Thanks Friend"
