Poem Artwork

She opens her eyes at five twenty-five am –

It is there, just outside her bedroom window –

A crescent moon appearing low in the early

Morning sky.

She marvels at its beauty, wondering how

Many times it has made its appearance in

The very same spot -

Yet, went unnoticed.

With her gaze still fixed on the moon,

She peacefully drifts back to sleep –

A slight smile on her face -

Dreaming of signs and omens.

Terrific picture and the poem complements it wonderfully. I've awaken before to see near daylight shining in my window and when I looked out there was a great big old moon--it was a harvest moon.

OH that moment of suspension between fully awake and still lolling around in the beta waves. You captured that here. Excellent. Liz

This one is so very soft... and inviting. Absolutely, YES! What a waste is our evening sky on clear and hazy nights. Fools watch a big electrified bulb or flat screen, and call that entertainment! What a waste, for beauty is our sky at many times in 24 hours... if we would only look up instead of across the room. This is a goody good one! - Bill

This is what I like about your poetry, Dawn. I can reach out and
touch your moon. I feel much the same way about looking up in early evening and spotting bright Venus. Gene.

That is what I love about the moon and stars and sunsets and sunrises...and nature in general... so many beautiful things about it, constantly changing things, and yet... it is new each time we look at it. It gives me great delight...

This is a sweet and dreamy little write. I have always been impressed with the signs and omens derived from moon and sun - in the old Native American mythologies (favorite reading) and I have fallen asleep many times with that same little smile. Nice work, Dawn!

Oh, I like this! How many times we let the beauty in the world around us go 'unnoticed' and yet when we do notice, how profound that instant can be!

Such a sweet write Dawn! Thank goodness she doesn't believe in superstition or that smile on her face would've been lost.
