As a mother of a large family, I know that children can be a blessing...they can be much more too!

I heard a woman just today
tell her child to “GO AWAY!”
The child looked crushed and turned away,

|How sad that her heart
was broken that way
I watched her as her little
shoulders slumped as she
began to cry
I thought of the mother
and asked myself “why?”
what could this little girl have done
to make her mother want to shun
a little angel so sweet, so pure
though not a babe, just
still just a little girl

But then I heard this
tiny angel turn ti her mother
and with such venom shout In anger
“YOU ARE THE WORST MOMMY IN THE WORLD!”
She stomped her precious little foot
as she pouted and cried until
her shoulder shook
She made every one within earshot
painfully aware that her
mother was “mean” and “bad” and “cruel”
The poor mother, who had turned toward me
was VERY pregnant, I now could see
had tears rolling down her cheeks
And in a soft voice begged
“Pretty PLEASE just one day
without this drama.”
“That is ALL I ask”
the mother whimpered
It was obvious this was
a woman on the edge
And her little angel was about to push.

The child's eyes now were dry
for a candy bar she now had spied
“Mommy PLEASE!” she cooed sweetly
The defeated mother whispered “Yes.”

So, the little angel had returned
all smiles and curls and
chocolate lips
She knew her mother was no match
for anything this child
would dish out.


I might add
I was not surprised
as the mother paid and turned to leave
She called out
“Come Sybil, it's time to leave!”
