The bittersweet experience of watching the child left behind, for the wonderful young man he becomes

That baby boy of mine
running into my arms

building forts and

that boy who
loved to play guitar
dreaming one day he’d
be a star

There he is
fifteen today
no longer a child
who goes out to play

Now a fine young man
that makes his
mother so proud
my little boy, not gone away
but now the young man
for which I prayed
