A Kyoka* exercise for WWWorkshop about Texas…its bigness.

When I set out to write this, I thought How can I write such a short poem about my state? T’wernt easy, so I wrote two for good measure, and they still fell short!  

We’re bigger than most,

so please Don’t Mess With Texas.

We have real big hearts;

proud of some politicians;

prouder for our love of life!

Have you seen Texas?

We’re country, cowboys, and art;

we have museums,

mountains, deserts, coastlines, and

that’s all in ONE of our counties!**

(**Texas has a total of 254 counties; we’re the only Republic within the U.S., and its why we’re the only “state” that can fly its Lone Star Flag the same height as the Stars and Strips…legally. Didja know that?)

* Kyoka – Five lines, 5-7-5-7-7 syllable count, sorta humorous with no rhyme.
