I’ve often wondered why
short stories are seldom read
and when readers encounter articles
they’re usually passed over with dread.

There really are very good stories
that deserve our reading time
whether they be “children’s”,
or others ‘bout evil and crime.

Guess some think it easier and faster
to click and read poetry all;
there’s no other memories written
they’d care to assimilate or recall.

Oh, yes, ancient history has been written
in ballad or verse of rhyme;
but the tales I’ll always remember
are from scribes of ancient time.

Stories ‘bout King Arthur,
and Merlyn and the rest.
Do you remember reading Genesis?
That’s a story at its best.

Would be nice, when we come into AD,
make the effort to read something prime.
Go into and read articles and stories
written by scribes of modern time.
