Love Conquers Death

When a person dies - by natural causes, by accident, or by intent - does their love, whether for another person
or their country or their Earth, die with them? I think not.

Love Conquers Death

I recently read
"A dead lover, who tried to love an enemy,
is unable to help others who truly want and need love."

My immediate thought was of
Anne Frank, wise beyond her years,
who taught all that would read her diary
that there is a Love beyond
Earthly and Material things;
that there is a love of the innocent
that "knowledgeable" people have forgotten.

We learn to fear and forget love.
We learn to covet and forget love.
We learn to distrust and forget love.
We learn to extract rather than to impact.
We learn to barter our gifts
rather than to give freely.

A "dead lover" is unable...?
Shakespeare, Brahms, Beethoven,
Elizabeth Browning, Wyeth and Renoir
all these are long dead, yet their love
lingers to those who want and need love
through their words, music, and artwork.

There is so much love that lingers
in our memories of our loved ones
who left this Earth so long ago or just              yesterday
Shall we deny this love that has sustained
so many for so long a time?
I would pray this does not happen to me or you.

Nay, not always
is love
that people can give
interred with their bones.

I loved the wisdom expressed in this fine write! I especially liked the third stanza and the last stanza... Fear is definitely one of the biggest barriers to love. And sometimes... sometimes I see that I fall into that trap myself. Maybe we all do with doubting ourselves and fearing that we aren't good enough... making us "afraid" to truly love ourselves.

So much food for thought here...
Thank you!

If you were sitting next to me - I'd give you the b i g g e s t and w a r m e s t hug for the beauty and love that you share through this poem. I come from an extremely large family, and many have died. I am glad that their love lives on our hearts, and am blessed to have so many memories of family and the artistry bequeathed to us from painters, poets, musicians, etc.

God bless you. Kathy

Fantastic poem Micke! I agree totally, if we were to learn all we can about love and spiritual enlightenment ,we would have such a better world.and as you saw in my poem I believe that learning goes on forever,in the life to come. Love especially unconditional is a many faceted gift from God that needs forever to understand;-)

If it is "love" it is permanently part of one's being and is never forgotten. Thank you, Micke. Love and best wishes to you,

Wise insight and I believe you are right, it does not die with them and end their because of all the lives along life's journey that person has touched....

Be always safe,
