ECHO OF SILENCE

Battles fought
from caves to tundra
from sands to forests
from sea to oceans

cruelties wrought
from man to beast
beast to man
slaying the dragon.

brutalities taught
wars across nations
in the name
of many gods

without a thought
distruction reigns
innocents slayed
for man's greed

death is brought
for the soul is lost
the beast doth rear
it's hateful head.

all for naught
no lessons learned
history lost
not remembered

The ancients fraught
their spirits denied
peace forgotten
the Earth
 is silent.

Is this
our past,
present,
and future?
