It is better to learn to depend on yourself
You are the only one that will see you through
Begin having a rough time and who is right there?
Look in the mirror to see who really cares
Heart feeling heavy as if it will burst
Go within yourself and heal yourself first

When looking for a friend to assist in the mend
You may find, you have too many feelings to defend
I needed you but you couldn't be there
I know it doesn't mean that you really don't care
For real strength I need to rely only on me
I'll be standing tall lest that's what you'll see.

I was hurt and tried to fill up your head
you weren't there, but in the search
I found myself instead
I can be my own best friend
After all remember only I know,
How far I can bend.
Or where my strengths or weakness lie
Tis me my friend.....It's I.

Soon as you gather up all the hurt and such
Someone will say your problems are too much
Not what I needed so I kept my mouth shut
Cramming it back down and filling my gut
Feeling a little fuller with each passing day
Trying hard not to transform in to some old cliche.

I can endure whatever comes my way
I'll ask you with all the answers to stay out of my way.
Hurt and pain help to summon the strength
I know without question I'll make the full length
If you are inclined to feel sorry for me
