The sun has set
stars fill the sky
like diamonds in the heavens
above you and I

The air is clean
washed with fresh dew
glistening on grass blade
and flower too

The moon has risen
in its silvery light
silently watching
the creatures of the night

Somewhere in the dark
sorrowful and long
a wolf sings
its sorrowful song

No sparrows do sing
no medowlark
only owls and bats
fly in the dark

The firefly sends messages
in signals of light
making strange patterens
in the air in its flight

All colors are gone
that seem so bright in day
all is in shadow
blue, black, and gray
