Today I saw a turtle,
peeking from his shell.
Trying to look just like a rock,
hiding there so well.
His shell was brown and black,
with small spots of yellow.
Creeping and hiding as turtles do,
he was a patient fellow.
He was exploring near a tree,
that is growing in my yard.
I wonder from where he came?
Was it near or far?
Turtles must live a happy life,
in their turtle home.
No rent to pay, no worries there,
in their mobile home.
They have a house in the rain,
and sometimes a submarine.
Wandering the countryside to and fro,
seeing amazing things.
Turtles can see the first flower,
as it starts to bloom.
They taste the sweetest berries,
in the month of June.
A turtle can see the things,
that humans tend to miss.
They can see the butterflies wings,
glisten with the morning mist.
They can dive deep in a pond,
like a turtle submarine.
They count the fishes living there,
be they silver, blue or green.
Now the turtle is off again,
slowly through the grass.
Knowing that the secret is,
not to live too fast.
Take the time to look around,
and do not fear to roam.
See the beauty around you,
even in a turtle and its home.
