She did the crime, and

she must do the time -

time alone - time in

solitary confinement.

The crime?

She's a thief -

She tried to take what

she thought was hers.

She simply desired,

ached, and needed.

She got caught trying

to steal it, so she

must be punished

by still lying and untouched

in her bed.

She's always afraid to move

and set off the motion

sensitive alarm that

she might be approaching.

When all is still and

quiet, she tries again to

take what she thinks

belongs to her -

thief that she is.

The blanket next to her

is so cold and rough and

doesn't provide the warmth

that she needs. The music

is silent as the darkest

night. There are no sweet

sounds being whispered

in the air. The non-existant

touches are her aches.

How long can this prisoner be

left to starve like this before

she gets the nerve to try and

steal again? If she gets caught

where will she end up?

Poor prisoner isolated on a

mattress in a world of rejection.
