Everyone wearing shades ain’t blind nor are they sheltering themselves
From the rays of the sun.
Some are only diminishing the glare of daily bull shit
Delivered individually and institutionally by those who would sacrifice
Humanity for their addiction to the drug called POWER!

Shade wearers are ever mindful of the challenge and energy required
To fight against the demon called ignorance which
Seduces the wanton because for them inertia is motion.
And motion requires a momentary commitment between mind
And muscle that for some is an intellectual challenge to be
Forfeited by their choice of being perpetual fools.

Perpetual fools linger between layers of socialization
That some call politics without realizing that power concedes
Nothing without force.
And rationalization is a smoke screen that many call a consensus.
As the old and financially less fortunate scramble for crumbs
Deemed unfit for consumption by those who do not budget for
necessities.
And children become the human sacrifices of today time
and are laid upon the alter of a future
that the powerful seemingly do not believe in.
Nor do parents who refuse to raise and nurture them.
